![]() As I said before, when I learned in 1999 that Peter Jackson had gotten a $300 million check to adapt Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, I thought someone at New Line needed their head examined. ![]() ![]() Look at some recent novel adaptations that turned into train wrecks - Dreamcatcher, Timeline, Treasure Island - just to name a few. It could have been such an abject disaster. Of all the happy, Hollywood endings we've seen over the years, the story of this movie is probably the best. Well, here it is, the first December in four years without a Lord of the Rings movie to look forward to in theaters.
